David Hochstetler joined Facebook in 2015 and is a technical lead on Facebook’s Small and Medium Business (SMB) Platforms and Analytics team. His work includes defining the measurement strategy for the analytics team, advising and developing measurement methodologies, and improving the experimentation framework for SMB scaled marketing.

As a graduate student and postdoc, he conducted research on numerical approaches to groundwater flow, transport, and reaction problems. He has also worked on 3-D hydraulic tomography, a novel approach to image the subsurface. His research had applications for understanding and optimizing subsurface processes such as groundwater remediation.

David holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University. He was a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate fellow at Stanford and a data science fellow at Insight Data Science.
