The Flatley Center for Undergraduate Scholarly Engagement (CUSE) is pleased to announce the opening of its Fall Fellowships recruitment cycle for academic year 2016-17. Please review the relevant opportunities listed below.
National fellowships offer prestigious academic opportunities that can help students to achieve their personal and professional goals. Current first-year students, sophomores, and juniors should take some time to review the following list of opportunities:
The Beinecke Scholarship provides funding ($30,000 for graduate school, $4,000 immediately) for exceptional juniors pursuing MFA or PhD degrees in the arts, humanities, or social sciences.
The Boren Scholarship provides up to $20,000 to support study abroad outside of North America, Western Europe, Australia, and New Zealand that includes studying a language crucial to U.S. national security.
The Critical Language Scholarship fully funds a 10-week summer linguistic and cultural institute in a country in which the target language is spoken.
The Goldwater Scholarship is for outstanding sophomores or juniors in STEM fields interested in pursuing PhD or MD/PhD programs leading to research-oriented careers. The award provides $7,500 for up to two years of undergraduate study. It is one of the most prestigious undergraduate awards in STEM.
The Truman Scholarship supports juniors interested in graduate school who have demonstrated that they will enter public service careers and become "change agents" through leadership and a commitment to public service. The Truman Scholarship includes a monetary award for graduate education, leadership training, and access to exclusive internship and networking opportunities.
The Udall Scholarship supports sophomores and juniors who have demonstrated the potential to make significant contributions to the fields of the environment, tribal health care, or tribal governance. Scholars receive up to $5,000 in educational expenses, access to the extensive Udall Alumni Network, and participate in an orientation during which they extend their professional networks, develop new skills, and interact with other scholars and alumni.
The US-UK Fulbright Commission Summer Institutes are fully funded 3-to-6 week academic and cultural institutes on various topics housed at universities across the UK. First-year students and sophomores are eligible to apply.
